Having a staff and keeping them all the year round is not as easy as others seem to think. Human beings if not motivated, tend to wear down easily and loose a lot of interest in their daily tasks. Staff should not at any point be taken for granted, these are people who despite the wages and pay they earn put their best put forward to make an organization run. They are the face of any organization. Staff motivation should be done continually and should not only be done at the end of the year. Trust should be built between both the employer and the employees. When there is lack of trust at the place of work, it becomes impossible to find out what it happening behind the scenes.

Motivation gives employees a chance to move on; a chance to put their best foot forward and a chance to become a part of the organization. Simple acknowledgement of a project or job well-done has a way of open employees’ hearts. It is away to show that they are appreciated and increases their self-esteem. As the New Year begins, employees need to have a clear reason to want to work for the company. It is better if a goal is set giving them the opportunity and desire to strive the goal and standards set. Without a goal and a clear set way forward, employees have nothing to look forward to. Giving them a chance to become part of the team motivates them to a greater height.
At the beginning of each New Year, it is proper to have a team building workshop where employees are allowed to give a feedback on the year that is past. They should not be penalized for speaking their minds or for pin-pointing areas that are in need of improvement to make their working career run smoothly. Through such feedbacks it is important to set clear roles for each employee. This will give them the motivation to succeed in their area of operation. It usually becomes difficult when there are no clear set-guidelines at a place of work.
